Nomen und bestimmter Artikel: der, die, das
Nouns in German have genders. Specific nouns are adjunct to articles: der (Maskulinum); die (Femininum); und das (Neutrum). For the plural form, the article die is used. These articles are identical to the article “the” in English. Generally, one should learn by heart the accurate der, die, or das article with each noun. That is, when learning a word, learn the article too! Applicable rules are related to the ending of the nouns.
