Joyeux Noël (French for “Merry Christmas”) or officially released in English as Happy Christmas, is a movie based on a touching, true story in time of World War I when on Christmas Eve, the German, French, and Scottish frontiers fraternized with each other ceasing fire during the hostilities. The movie stars Diane Kruger, Benno Fürmann, Guillaume Canet, and Daniel Brühl amongst many other superb performers. Written and directed by Christian Carion, Joyeux Noël won in the Villadolid International Film Festival and was nominated as Best Foreign Film (France) in Academy Award and Oscar Award in 2006.
